Week Two_Happy Are The Sad // Reflection Guide // The Good Life

Read Matthew 5:4

We serve a God who comforts us in our darkest times and draws near to us when we need Him the most. When we lose something or someone great, sometimes the smallest of things can lift our spirits back; maybe spring flowers or a friend who brought you food. Can you think of a time in your life where you were upset or mourning something great and someone or something brought you comfort? What was it?

Read Isaiah 61:1-3

This is the good news of what Christ has promised for us. Which of the things promised to those who mourn here do you hold on to in your time of suffering?

UP

Memorize Matthew 5:4. “God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

IN

Read Romans 5:3-5. Set aside a time for reflection to answer the following questions:

What problems and trials have helped you develop endurance? How has the ability to endure trials help develop your character and strengthen your confidence in Jesus?

OUT

Over the course of this week, keep an eye open to seeing people around you that may be mourning something and need to be comforted. Whether it is a coworker or a family member, scripture tells us that God comforts us so that we can comfort others.
